EDSA-Kamuning Footbridge to be Replaced with Accessible Alternative
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) in the Philippines has announced plans to replace the EDSA-Kamuning footbridge, known informally as "Mt. Kamuning" due to its steep stairs, with a more accessible structure. Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon revealed that a new, lower footbridge with an elevator will be constructed to replace the existing one. While the announcement confirms the project, no completion date has been specified. The decision follows recent efforts by the Marcos administration to understand the challenges faced by commuters. Secretary Dizon's participation in a community walk along EDSA underscores this commitment. "We're committed to making sure our infrastructure serves the needs of all Filipinos," said Dizon, highlighting the government's focus on improving pedestrian infrastructure. The project is expected to improve accessibility for commuters and enhance the overall pedestrian experience in the area. The initiative reflects a broader government plan to upgrade infrastructure and improve public transportation in the Philippines.
