Deadly Storms Pummel Romania: Hail, Floods, and Lightning Strike Claim Lives
Severe Storms Devastate Romania, Leaving One Dead and One Critically Injured Heavy storms swept across several regions of Romania this week, causing widespread damage and claiming one life. The storms brought large hailstones, strong winds, and torrential rain, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. In Călărași, Constanța, and Focșani, hailstones the size of golf balls pummeled crops and damaged property. "It was like a blizzard in the middle of summer," said one resident of Călărași, describing the scene. In Arad, streets turned into rivers as heavy rainfall overwhelmed drainage systems. The flooding caused significant disruption to traffic and submerged numerous vehicles. Tragically, two people were struck by lightning during the storm while seeking shelter. One of them, unfortunately, passed away, while the other is in critical condition in the hospital. Meteorologists warn that rain is expected to continue this weekend. While the storms have subsided for now, the damage is extensive, and the impact on local communities will be felt for some time. However, the resilience of the Romanian people, as seen in their efforts to help each other during this difficult time, offers a glimmer of hope amid the devastation.
