SANTA CRUZ, Bolivia – Students at the Gabriel René Moreno Autonomous University (UAGRM) have initiated a strong protest, taking over university modules in rejection of the upcoming second round of rector elections. The students are demanding the immediate resignation of the electoral court president and all its members, citing widespread allegations of monumental fraud during the first round of the electoral process. During an interview at the protest site, a student representative, whose identity was not disclosed, stated, "Our demand is clear. We are base students, and the only thing we ask for is, first, the resignation of the president and all members of the electoral court. They were complicit in the monumental fraud that occurred in the first round here at the university." The student further presented what appeared to be pre-marked ballots, asserting that "all the ballots were marked for 24/7." He emphasized the students' determination to continue their occupation, stating, "We will continue with the takeover because it is not possible for them to manipulate at will. The university itself says it is autonomous. Therefore, we want it to be respected." The students are not against a second round of elections but insist that any future electoral process must be conducted cleanly and transparently, free from the alleged irregularities that marred the initial vote. The situation remains tense as students maintain their stance, awaiting a response from university authorities regarding their demands for electoral integrity.
