PODGORICA, MONTENEGRO – A rare sighting of a great white shark in the Adriatic Sea has been confirmed, marking only the third such instance in the past 30 years. The news, accompanied by photographic evidence, was released by the Montenegrin Institute of Marine Biology. The young great white shark was reportedly caught by fisherman Gojko Mitrović approximately 12 kilometers off the Montenegrin coast. After its capture, the shark was safely released back into the sea. Experts emphasize that the great white shark is a critically endangered species and is recognized as the most dangerous type of shark. The Montenegrin Institute of Marine Biology reminds the public that the last recorded fatal shark attack in these waters occurred in 1974. As a precautionary measure, authorities recommend avoiding swimming at dawn in areas where such sightings have occurred.
