FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE **Swim Instructor Shares Vital Towel-Wrapping Tip to Enhance Child Water Safety** A certified self-rescue swim instructor is drawing attention to a critical, yet often overlooked, aspect of child water safety: the proper way to towel-wrap children after swimming. In a recent video, the instructor demonstrated how a common towel-wrapping method could inadvertently hinder a child's ability to self-rescue in the event of an accidental fall back into the pool. The instructor highlighted that many parents instinctively wrap a towel tightly around their child, including their arms. "I can't tell you how many times I’ve seen a child face plant because they couldn’t catch themselves because their arms were constricted under a towel," she stated. She emphasized that this practice restricts a child's limbs, making it difficult for them to brace themselves or maneuver if they suddenly re-enter the water. Instead, the instructor advised parents to wrap the towel around the child's torso while ensuring their arms remain free. "Put the towel underneath their arms. That way, if they end up in the water, they still have access to their limbs to self-rescue, and they're that much safer," she explained. This simple adjustment allows children to maintain their arm mobility, which is crucial for balance and self-preservation in aquatic environments. This practical tip underscores the importance of continuous vigilance and education in preventing drowning incidents, reminding parents that even seemingly minor habits can have significant safety implications.
