SÃO PAULO – The iconic Theatro Municipal de São Paulo has launched its "Portas Abertas" (Open Doors) initiative, offering the public free access to its magnificent main hall without prior appointment. This cultural program aims to make the historic landmark more accessible to residents and tourists alike. According to a representative from the Theatro Municipal, the main hall can be visited every Tuesday from 10 AM to 4 PM and Saturday from 10 AM to 2 PM. Visitors are permitted to remain in the hall until 5 PM on Tuesdays and 3 PM on Saturdays, provided they enter before the closing time. The initiative allows for free exploration and photography of the stunning architectural details. For those seeking a deeper dive into the theater's rich history and other spaces, free guided educational tours are available. These tours run in Portuguese on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 11 AM, 1 PM, 3 PM, and 5 PM, and on Saturdays at 11 AM, 1 PM, and 2 PM. Reservations for guided tours must be made in advance via the official website, starting at 10 AM the day prior, with a limit of two tickets per CPF.
