Murcia, Spain – A local mechanic, known as TALLERES MATEO 2.0, has recently highlighted a prevalent and costly problem affecting modern diesel vehicles, particularly models like the 2021 Peugeot Rifter. In a video widely shared online, the mechanic detailed how failures in the AdBlue system, including the tank, pump, and control unit, can lead to a complete vehicle shutdown. The mechanic explained that the anti-contamination systems in these vehicles are designed to halt operation if a critical fault is detected, often after a countdown of remaining kilometers. "The problem we had was that the AdBlue tank was broken, it had a broken pump and float, and the control unit was also faulty," he stated, showing the damaged components. He emphasized that simply replacing the parts is not enough; a full system update and diagnostic procedure are required to restore functionality. Furthermore, TALLERES MATEO 2.0 provided crucial maintenance advice to prevent such issues. He stressed the importance of using high-quality urea and an anti-crystallization additive. "This is super important: good additives will prevent AdBlue from crystallizing and causing faults within our tanks," he advised. He also shared a critical tip: "Do not fill the AdBlue tank all the way to the top. Only put in between six and seven liters, even if it asks for AdBlue sooner." Overfilling, he warned, can cause spills that damage the AdBlue control unit. Finally, he recommended regularly cleaning the AdBlue injector to ensure the entire system operates perfectly. The mechanic's insights shed light on a significant concern for diesel vehicle owners, offering practical steps to mitigate potential system failures and costly repairs.
