Venezuelan Man Fatally Shot in Lima's Plaza San Martín; Family Links Crime to Drug Refusal

Lima, Peru – A 22-year-old Venezuelan national, Jesús Martínez Urbano, was tragically killed in a shooting incident at Plaza San Martín on the night of Thursday, August 14. The attack, which occurred around 10:00 p.m., saw Martínez Urbano sitting on a marble bench with his partner and five-year-old daughter when he was approached by three individuals. Witnesses reported that the assailants insulted Martínez Urbano before calling for additional accomplices. The group then brutally attacked him, firing up to five shots. Martínez Urbano was rushed to Hospital Dos de Mayo but succumbed to the severity of his injuries shortly after arrival. According to his partner, the fatal attack may have been a retaliatory act after Martínez Urbano refused to engage in drug sales. As of now, his partner has not reported receiving any threats. Authorities are investigating the incident to determine the full circumstances and apprehend those responsible for the crime.
