Peruvian Woman's Body Found in US: Family Criticizes Ministry's Tweet, Demands Suspect's Capture
Lima, Peru – The family of Sheyla Gutiérrez, a Peruvian woman whose body was recently found in the United States after a period of disappearance, has confirmed the tragic news. Speaking to reporters, a family representative expressed profound sorrow but also strong concern regarding the handling of information by official channels. “We confirm the tweet that we already had knowledge of since yesterday,” stated Sheyla’s sister. “We regret the tweet that was published by the Ministry of Women, as it has put the investigation at risk in the United States. It has put at risk the work being carried out here in Peru.” The family urged the Ministry to exercise greater care and responsibility when making public statements, especially concerning sensitive cases. “In memory of my sister, I ask that any publication made about the case be consulted with the family beforehand, as there is a joint effort behind it,” she added, emphasizing that the work involves both Peruvian and US authorities. Authorities continue their efforts to apprehend Josimar Cabrera Cornejo, identified as the primary suspect in Sheyla Gutiérrez’s homicide.
