Lima, Peru - Doña Carmen, a testament to unwavering spirit and entrepreneurial drive, has successfully established a thriving hardware business in a sector traditionally dominated by men. Her journey, spanning 15 years, began in the wake of a challenging divorce, when she decided to rebuild her life with minimal resources.Starting with just a borrowed display case, a few hammers, and nails, Doña Carmen's initial foray into business was not without its hurdles. Prior attempts at selling sodas and running a clothing store did not prosper. However, a friend's advice led her to the construction industry, where she ultimately found her calling."I started with almost nothing," Doña Carmen recounted, reflecting on her early days. "It was tough, but I knew I had to push forward for myself and my future."Through sheer determination, she meticulously reinvested every profit, acquiring a small motorcycle to personally deliver orders. Her business acumen grew as she learned to negotiate effectively with suppliers and earned the trust of construction workers. Today, she single-handedly manages her hardware store, overseeing every order and even advising her clients to avoid counterfeit products, a testament to her commitment to quality and customer service."My secret is simple: never give up, always smile, and always keep your promises," she stated, embodying the resilience that has defined her success.
