Malaysia Announces New Teacher Transfer Policy: Easier Transfers and Overseas Training Opportunities KUCHING, SARAWAK, MALAYSIA – May 17, 2025 – In a significant move to improve teacher working conditions and professional development, the Malaysian Ministry of Education (KPM) has announced a new policy allowing teachers with at least two years of experience to transfer to different schools without any conditions. This was revealed by Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek during the 54th National Teachers' Day celebration at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching. "This initiative is one of six key steps to enhance the professionalism and development of our educators," said Minister Sidek. "We believe this will lead to a more satisfied and effective teaching force across the country." The policy change is accompanied by other initiatives, including the appointment of 1470 teaching assistants for 2025 and a program sending 32 selected teachers to the United Kingdom for teaching experience at international schools under the Global Immersion for Future Ready Teachers program. Additionally, teachers will receive discounts on flight tickets and books. The event highlighted the commitment to improving the education sector in Malaysia, boosting morale and providing opportunities for professional growth among educators.
