JPJ Sarawak Steps Up Express Bus Safety Checks for Gawai and Aidiladha
JPJ Sarawak Intensifies Express Bus Checks for Gawai and Aidiladha Sarawak, Malaysia – In preparation for the upcoming Gawai and Aidiladha celebrations, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) Sarawak, in collaboration with other agencies, has launched a comprehensive inspection program targeting all express buses operating within the state. This initiative aims to ensure the safety and roadworthiness of these vehicles, prioritizing passenger safety during the peak travel period. Inspections are thorough, covering key safety aspects such as tires, braking systems, lighting, and safety mirrors. Any bus found with deficiencies that compromise safety is immediately grounded until necessary repairs are completed. "Buses that pass inspection will receive a permit or special safety certificate," explained Norizan Jili, Director of JPJ Sarawak. These permits have a validity period of 7-14 days, depending on the bus's safety standards during the inspection. The inspections are not limited to bus depots; they also extend to terminals, ensuring that all vehicles are checked before commencing their journeys. This multi-pronged approach underscores JPJ Sarawak's commitment to ensuring safe and reliable public transportation for all citizens during the festive season. The initiative reflects a proactive approach to safety and responsible public transportation.
