La Paz, Bolivia – The Ministry of Labor has officially denied the request to combine the upcoming public holidays of Corpus Christi on Thursday, June 19, and the Andean-Amazonian New Year on Saturday, June 21. This decision means that the holidays will be observed separately, without an extended long weekend. The proposal to unite the two holidays was put forward by the Vice Minister of Tourism, Ibert Flores Torres. Minister Flores had advocated for the measure, stating that combining the holidays would significantly foster and stimulate internal tourism, providing an economic boost to various sectors. Despite the appeal, the Ministry of Labor concluded that the conditions for merging the holidays were not met, and the original holiday schedule will remain in effect. This announcement comes as a definitive response to public and sectoral expectations regarding a potential extended break.
