La Paz, Bolivia – The city of La Paz is abuzz with preparations for the upcoming Aymara New Year, also known as the Andean-Amazonian New Year, set to be celebrated on June 21st. The municipal government has announced five strategic locations across the city where residents and visitors can partake in the traditional festivities and ancestral rituals. Among the key sites designated for the celebrations are the Mirador La Paz and Valle de la Luna, known for their panoramic views and cultural significance. Officials emphasized the importance of these locations for welcoming the new solar cycle. "We will be here at 6 AM at the central point, which we call Yatiri Uta, the place of the Yatiris," stated a representative, referring to the spiritual guides. The ceremonies will feature traditional fire rituals and offerings, symbolizing renewal and gratitude. The video shows preparations underway, including large wooden structures for bonfires and people gathering at various viewpoints. The event is expected to draw thousands, with the main esplanade near the La Paz letters capable of accommodating over a thousand participants. Additional celebrations are also planned for Parque Laicacota and other sites, all part of the homage to Willka Kuti, the return of the sun.
