La Paz Implements Distance Learning Amidst Measles Health Emergency
La Paz, Bolivia – Educational authorities in La Paz have confirmed the implementation of distance learning for students, effective Thursday, June 26, 2025. The measure was ratified in response to a health emergency caused by measles. Speaking on the matter, the district director stated, "We have instructed, through an official directive, to transition to distance education." He further explained that while in-person classes continued previously due to the absence of a formal instruction, today marks the official shift to remote learning. To facilitate this, the director noted that the use of video conferencing platforms such as Google Meet and Zoom has been suggested to ensure direct contact between educators and students. He highlighted the progress in technological adaptation for education, stating, "Since COVID-19, we have been advancing more and more in the use of technology." This experience has prepared them for the current shift. It was clarified that this directive applies specifically to the city of La Paz. The authorities of El Alto will make their own decisions regarding the educational modality for their students.
