Gardeners often face the perennial challenge of weeds, but according to gardening expert View From The Potting Bench, there's a right and a wrong way to tackle them. In a recent video, the expert highlighted that simply cutting the tops off weeds like dandelions can inadvertently strengthen their root systems, leading to more prolific growth. "Weeds like dandelions really do need to be teased out super slowly to get that whole root system out," the expert stated, demonstrating the careful process of extracting the entire root. He explained that leaving any part of the root behind signals the plant to produce more, making future weeding more difficult. The advice extends to smaller weeds found in patio cracks. "Just like with those dandelions, you'll need to get the whole root out, so make sure to be extra gentle," he advised. The expert encouraged a bit-by-bit approach to weeding, suggesting that breaking down the task into smaller, consistent efforts can make it less daunting and more manageable for gardeners.
