Carlow Shopping Centre Shooting: Man Dies, Girl Injured in Gunfire Incident
Carlow Shopping Centre Shooting: Man Dies in Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound A tragic incident unfolded yesterday evening at the Fairgreen Shopping Centre in Carlow, Ireland. A man in his 20s died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after discharging a firearm multiple times. Assistant Commissioner Paula Hilman of An Garda Síochána confirmed the details in a press briefing this afternoon. "The suspect then discharged his firearm again, self-inflicting a fatal wound," she stated. While the man's actions caused alarm, thankfully, no other individuals were injured by the gunfire. However, a young girl suffered a minor leg injury after falling while fleeing the scene. Gardaí received numerous phone calls around 6:15 pm yesterday, alerting them to the situation. The scene remained sealed off until this morning, when an EOD team from Collins Barracks in Cork declared it safe after examining an unknown substance found near the deceased. A full post-mortem will be conducted, and formal identification procedures are underway. The deceased is described as a young, white Irish man in his early twenties. The investigation continues.
