
RM5.3 Million Investment Scam: Businessman Falls Victim to Google Ad Fraud
Selangor: A 67-year-old businessman lost RM5.3 million in an investment scam promoted via Google ads. The victim, after clicking on an ad, joined a WhatsApp group where he was defrauded by a woman posing as an investment advisor. Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan stated, "The victim only participated in the investment sessions for about a week before being asked to register as a new investor on a platform called Primus Pacific Partners." The victim made 13 transactions totaling RM5.3 million into three different bank accounts before realizing the scam. Police are investigating under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating and warn citizens to be wary of unsolicited investment offers, especially those made through unverified online platforms. This incident highlights the increasing prevalence of online financial scams and the need for greater public awareness and caution.
