RM695,000 Lost in Malaysian Investment Scam
A 60-year-old woman from Kuantan, Malaysia, has lost RM695,000 in an investment scam, according to a recent TV Sarawak news report. The scheme, advertised on Facebook, promised high returns but ultimately proved to be fraudulent. The victim, whose identity has not been released, initially invested RM5,000 after being prompted to download an application and register her details. After receiving an early profit of RM900, she made further investments, totaling RM695,000, before becoming suspicious. "The victim felt she had been tricked and reported the incident to the Bentong District Police Headquarters," said Deputy Pahang Police Chief Datuk Azmir Akmar Ayob. The case is now under investigation under Section 420 of the Penal Code. This incident serves as a cautionary tale about the risks of online investment schemes and the importance of due diligence before investing any money.
