Malaysia's Water Reserves Sufficient for Southwest Monsoon Season: Government KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA – June 8, 2025 – Concerns regarding water scarcity during the upcoming Southwest Monsoon season have been addressed by the Malaysian government. The Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, in a statement delivered by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, confirmed that national water reservoir levels are currently at safe and sufficient levels. "Kementerian Peralihan Tenaga dan Transformasi Air memaklumkan rizab takungan air seluruh negara berada pada tahap selamat dan mencukupi untuk menghadapi musim Monsun Barat Daya yang dijangka sehingga September." This translates to, "The Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation has informed that water reserves throughout the country are at a safe and sufficient level to face the Southwest Monsoon season, which is expected to last until September." said Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof. The government is actively monitoring water levels across the country to ensure a consistent supply. This monitoring is not limited to dry seasons but is a continuous process to proactively address potential water shortages.
