The upgrade, expected to be completed by September 2025, will increase the plant's output to 1.65 million liters of clean water per day (MLD). The project, situated near Masjid Al-Hana, incorporates modern technology to enhance efficiency and reliability. "With the completion of this new plant, the capacity will increase to 1.65 million liters per day," stated Datuk Seri Juliah, Minister of Utilities and Telecommunications, Sarawak. This more than doubles the current capacity, significantly improving the water supply for residents. A representative from the Ministry of Utilities and Telecommunications added, "This project is a testament to our commitment to providing essential services to the people of Sarawak and improving the quality of life for our communities."
