Missing Hiker Found Alive After Three Weeks in California Mountains
A 27-year-old Georgia woman, Tiffany Slaton, embarked on a solo camping trip across the Sierra Nevada mountains in California. She was last seen in the Shaver Lake area on April 24th and reported missing on April 29th. The subsequent search, spanning nearly 600 square miles, captivated the attention of local residents and authorities alike. On Wednesday, May 14th, Ms. Slaton was found alive and well near Lake Edison, approximately 45 miles from her last known location. Christopher Gutierrez, owner of the Vermilion Valley Resort, discovered Ms. Slaton when he noticed the door to one of his cabins was open. "She pops out, didn't say a word, just ran up and all she wanted was a hug," Gutierrez recounted. Slaton's father expressed immense relief, stating, "This is one of the best birthday presents Tiffany could receive, because tomorrow is her birthday." Authorities confirmed that Slaton was dehydrated but otherwise in good condition. The story highlights the resilience of the human spirit and the unwavering hope of a family reunited.
