Hiker Survives Avalanche, Weeks in Wilderness, by Finding Nearest Starbucks
A Georgia woman, Tiffany Slaton, 28, vanished in the snowy Sierra Nevada mountains of California for weeks after a hiking accident. She survived an avalanche and subsequent injuries by using her wits and resourcefulness, consuming wild leeks and snowmelt. In a recent press conference, Slaton recounted her harrowing experience: "When I fell off of this cliff, I was unconscious for about two hours and did indeed need to splint one of my legs and popped the other knee back into place." Despite multiple attempts to contact emergency services, her phone failed. Eventually, she located a nearby Starbucks using her GPS, leading her to civilization and rescue. This remarkable story underscores the importance of preparedness and the indomitable human spirit.
