Malaysia Intensifies Crackdown on Illegal Online Vape Sales
Malaysia's MCMC Steps Up Monitoring of Online Vape and E-Cigarette Sales Malaysia is cracking down on the illegal online sale of vape and e-cigarettes. The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) announced that it is increasing its monitoring of online platforms to combat the sale of these products, particularly due to concerns about the presence of unregulated synthetic ingredients. The MCMC's action follows increasing reports of the sale of vape products containing synthetic substances that pose potential health risks. "We are directing the MCMC to thoroughly investigate the online sales of these products," stated Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, Minister of Communications. "The presence of synthetic ingredients is a serious concern, and we must take decisive action to protect public health." The increased monitoring will focus on various online platforms, including Facebook and WhatsApp. The MCMC will collaborate with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) to enforce regulations and take appropriate action against those involved in illegal sales. A comprehensive report will be presented to the Cabinet for further discussion and policy decisions. This proactive measure by the MCMC demonstrates Malaysia's commitment to addressing the growing concerns surrounding the sale and use of unregulated vape and e-cigarette products.
