The storm, originating in the South Pole and entering through Argentina, is impacting a total of 149 municipalities across the country. "This alert is in effect for 149 municipalities in seven departments," stated Juan Carlos Calvimontes, Vice Minister of Civil Defense, in a press briefing shown on Bolivia TV. He detailed the number of affected municipalities: Santa Cruz (56), La Paz (22), Beni (19), Pando (15), Chuquisaca (14), Cochabamba (14), and Tarija (9). The government is taking steps to prepare for the impact of the storm, including providing assistance to vulnerable populations. The alert level will be downgraded to orange on May 30.
