Dominican Republic's Alerta RD: A Rapid Response System for Missing Persons
Dominican Republic to Implement Rapid Response System for Missing Persons The Dominican Republic is poised to revolutionize its search efforts for missing individuals with the introduction of the Alerta RD bill. Proposed by Congresswoman Carmen Ligia Barceló, the bill aims to create a national rapid response system, eliminating the current 48-hour waiting period before search efforts commence. "This initiative is about saving lives and acting quickly," Barceló stated during an interview on CDN Canal 37. The system will use different color-coded alerts (Amber, Silver, Blue, and Pink) to categorize missing persons based on age and situation. This will allow for immediate and targeted responses. The project is a collaborative effort involving the 911 system, the Ministry of Interior and Police, the National Police, and the Attorney General's Office. Their combined protocols will streamline the search process. The successful implementation of similar systems in other countries shows a significant increase in the efficiency of locating missing individuals. Alerta RD represents a hopeful step toward a more effective and responsive system in the Dominican Republic.
