Near Drownings in Orhei Highlight Water Safety Concerns

On the first day of summer, two teenagers nearly drowned in a lake in Orhei, Moldova. A 15-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy were separately rescued by lifeguards. The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) spokesperson, Liliana Pușcașu, stated, "In this context, IGSU urges adults to carefully supervise children, especially near bodies of water." The incidents highlight the dangers of unsupervised swimming. The IGSU spokesperson added that 20 people have drowned in Moldova's waterways this year, including four minors. This tragic event serves as a reminder of the importance of water safety and adult supervision.
