Belgrade, Serbia - On what would have been the 85th birthday of legendary Serbian actress Milena Dravić, the city of Belgrade continues to cherish the memory of her and her equally iconic husband, Dragan Nikolić. A special place, the 'Milena and Gaga Square' in the Vračar district, serves as a poignant reminder of their enduring legacy and love story. The square, situated at the intersection of Cara Nikolaja and Mileševska streets, is more than just a public space; it is a testament to the couple's deep connection to the city. The video, produced by City Magazine, takes viewers on a journey through the couple's life in Vračar. It highlights the path Dragan Nikolić, affectionately known as 'Mangup sa Krsta,' would often take to accompany Milena Dravić after late rehearsals at the Belgrade Drama Theatre (BDP). It is believed that it was along these very streets that the couple, during a lunch break from filming 'Kako su se volele dve budale' (How Two Fools Loved Each Other), made the spontaneous decision to get married. Their life in Vračar is further commemorated by a plaque in Ivana Đaje Street, placed by their neighbors, honoring their residence there for decades. Not far from this location, in Nevesinjska Street, a striking mural depicts the beloved actors, adding another layer to their presence in the urban landscape. While the square itself may not be the largest or most ornate, its historical facades and gates encapsulate the old charm of Belgrade, preserving the memory of the cherished acting pair who walked its pavements, 'face to face,' for many years. This tribute underscores the profound impact Milena Dravić and Dragan Nikolić had on Serbian culture and the hearts of generations.
