Guelph Jewelry Store Hit by Smash-and-Grab Robbery: Police Seek Suspect
Guelph Jewelry Store Targeted in Overnight Break-in A Guelph, Ontario jewelry store was the victim of a break-in early Wednesday morning. Security camera footage shows a suspect smashing the store's glass door and stealing an estimated 50 or more pieces of silver jewelry, along with gold items and watches. "I could probably estimate there was about 50 or more pieces of silver jewelry and then a handful of some other gold jewelry as well and a handful of watches as well," said the store owner in an interview with CTV News. Police have released a description of the suspect based on the video: a Black male with a medium build, wearing a black and white hoodie, blue track pants, a black cap, and a face mask. They are also investigating the involvement of a second individual seen in the car in the parking lot. "There are two people involved...the passenger who got out and obviously entered the store, and the driver. At this point we don't know if that was a male or female," stated a Guelph Police officer. The incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by small businesses in dealing with crime. The store owners are now assessing the damage and reviewing security measures.
