Major Drug Bust Nets Seven Arrests in Sydney
Seven men have been charged following a major drug bust in Wetherill Park, New South Wales. The operation, codenamed Strike Force Aulic, began in September 2023, targeting a 42-year-old man and his associates suspected of smuggling large quantities of drugs and illicit tobacco into Australia. Police allege the group used a freight forwarding business in Punchbowl to import the contraband, including over 280kg of liquid methamphetamine hidden in an industrial cooler from Canada. "This was a significant operation that has disrupted a major criminal network," said a spokesperson for NSW Police. Hundreds of kilos of drugs and 20 million illegal cigarettes were seized. The arrests highlight the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat drug trafficking in Australia. The successful conclusion of Strike Force Aulic sends a strong message to those involved in organized crime.
