Fremont Michaels Store Faces Racial Profiling Allegations FREMONT, CA – A recent incident at a Michaels craft store in Fremont, California, has sparked controversy after a customer recorded and shared her experience, alleging racial profiling by a store security guard. The customer, who identifies herself as a Black woman, stated that she was followed and falsely accused of not scanning all her items at the self-checkout. According to the customer's account, she had gathered several items, including shirts and fabric sprays, and was in the process of scanning them at the self-checkout when a security guard, also a Black man, approached her. She claims the guard was not present on the store floor prior to her arrival at the checkout. "He was never out on the floor. Just let y'all know that right," she asserted in her video. She further stated that after her confrontation, she decided to cancel her transaction due to "racial harassment" and left the store. The customer highlighted that the security guard did not appear to follow other shoppers, including a white man, who entered the store shortly after she left. She expressed her belief that the guard's actions were "unprofessional" and "racism at its peak," urging viewers to avoid the specific Michaels location at 39170 Argonaut Way, Fremont, CA. The video captures moments of the interaction, including the security guard appearing to be on the phone and another employee, identified as Nathan, assisting with the canceled transaction. The store has not yet issued a public statement regarding the incident.
