Lima, Peru – In a significant move aimed at providing economic relief to its citizens, the Peruvian executive branch has officially promulgated Law N° 32322, which permits workers to withdraw up to 100% of their Compensación por Tiempo de Servicios (CTS) funds. This new legislation, effective until December 2026, is a direct response to the ongoing economic challenges faced by many households across the nation. The announcement was made on May 9, 2025, marking a critical development for the country's labor force. Following the promulgation, the Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion has been given a strict 10-working-day deadline to develop and publish the detailed regulations for the law's implementation. This means that the complete framework for withdrawals is anticipated to be available by Monday, May 19, 2025. Financial experts suggest that this rapid timeline underscores the government's intent to expedite the distribution of funds to those in need. A notable aspect of Law N° 32322 is the establishment of a special regime for individuals diagnosed with cancer or terminal illnesses. These workers are now authorized to withdraw their entire CTS balance at any point, provided they accredit their condition with their employer. This provision aims to offer immediate financial support for critical medical needs. For the broader working population, the law allows for both full and partial withdrawals. Workers have the flexibility to withdraw up to 100% of their accumulated CTS, or opt for partial withdrawals of up to 50% of their fund plus accrued interest. It is expected that financial institutions will begin processing these withdrawals between May 19 and May 23, 2025, once the regulatory details are finalized. This measure is poised to significantly impact the financial stability of numerous Peruvian families, offering a much-needed boost during uncertain economic times.
