Squirrels are a common problem for home gardeners, often digging up seedlings in search of nuts or other food sources. Using large net cages is one solution but can prevent pollinators from reaching the plants. gardneradjacent discovered that a simple blue net, hung loosely over the plants, deters squirrels. The movement and bright color of the net seem to confuse the squirrels, preventing them from approaching the plants. "I was using big net cages for each container, but now that the seedlings are getting bigger and some are flowering, I need the pollinators to be able to get to the plants," gardneradjacent explains.
