Chiswell, known for her historical beauty recreations, meticulously applied contrasting makeup styles to each half of her face, revealing the ingenious methods used by early Hollywood artists. "They had to change their makeup pretty much completely," Chiswell explained, "because of the type of film they used back then." She elaborated on how traditional makeup colors often failed to register correctly on black and white film. For instance, red lipstick would appear as a stark black, while green lipstick was discovered to translate into a natural-looking red on screen. Similarly, blue eyeshadow was strategically used for contouring and blush to create definition that would otherwise be lost in monochrome. The demonstration also highlighted a unique "lash beading" technique, involving melted candle wax applied to false lashes to enhance their visibility.
