The operation, conducted by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) in collaboration with the General Operations Force (PGA), resulted in the confiscation of goods estimated to be worth over RM257,865. The discovery was made during a routine inspection of two lorries. "The items were found concealed in sacks at the back of the lorries," stated Muhammad Nizam Jamaluddin, Director of KPDN Kedah. "This raised suspicions, leading to a more thorough examination." Further investigation revealed 387 bags and 1,528 pairs of shoes bearing various brand names suspected of using unregistered trademarks. The seized items are now being analyzed to determine the extent of the counterfeiting operation and identify those responsible. The operation serves as a strong warning against the illegal trade of counterfeit goods in Malaysia. The KPDN Kedah is committed to taking strict action against those involved, emphasizing the penalties under the Trade Descriptions Act 2019, which includes substantial fines and potential imprisonment.
