
RM1.8 Million Ganja Bust in Penang: Customs Foils Two Smuggling Attempts
Penang Customs Seizes RM1.8 Million in Ganja Penang, Malaysia – In a major drug bust, the Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM) in Penang has seized RM1.8 million worth of ganja. The seizure involved two separate incidents, highlighting the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region. The first incident occurred at Penang International Airport. Customs officers discovered 29 parcels containing 16,200 grams of dried ganja, valued at RM1.58 million. "This was a significant find, demonstrating the vigilance of our officers," stated Rohaizad Ali, Director of the Penang Customs Department. Separately, at the Pos Malaysia Berhad courier center, 4 parcels containing 2,236 grams of ganja, worth RM218,128, were intercepted. This discovery was made with the assistance of K9 drug detection units. Both cases are under investigation under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. The successful seizures underscore the commitment of Malaysian authorities to disrupt drug trafficking networks and protect the nation's borders.
