Starbucks Introduces a Lineup of Protein Coffees, but Are They Vegan?
If you are a proud Starbucks coffee drinker ever since they dropped the non-dairy milk upcharge, wait until you hear about their new protein drinks.
Starbucks Introduces New Protein-Enhanced Beverages, Drawing Early Reviews Starbucks has recently expanded its beverage menu with a new line of protein-infused cold foam drinks and lattes, aiming to cater to health-conscious consumers. The new offerings include the Iced Banana Cream Protein Matcha, Chocolate Cream Protein Cold Brew, and Iced Vanilla Cream Protein Latte, among others. Early consumer feedback has begun to emerge, with social media influencer and former Starbucks barista, MINJU (minjulifts), providing a detailed review of three of the new beverages. In her assessment, the Iced Banana Cream Protein Matcha, containing 24 grams of protein, was noted for its balanced flavor, with the banana not overpowering the matcha, and surprisingly lacking a strong protein aftertaste. She rated it an 8 out of 10. The Chocolate Cream Protein Cold Brew, boasting 19 grams of protein, was described as tasting "almost identical" to a regular chocolate milk, praised for its balanced sweetness and lack of an overpowering flavor. This drink received a 9 out of 10 from the reviewer. The Iced Vanilla Cream Protein Latte, with 26 grams of protein, was observed to have a slight protein aftertaste, though it was still considered enjoyable and not overly strong. It was given a 7 out of 10. MINJU highlighted that protein cold foams are available in various flavors beyond the featured drinks, allowing for customisation. She also mentioned the release of new protein lattes, including sugar-free options designed to be more calorie-deficit friendly. However, she cautioned that cold foams generally tend to be calorically dense. The influencer attempted to try the new protein milk lattes but found them unavailable during an early morning visit to Starbucks. The introduction of these protein-packed options marks Starbucks' continued effort to diversify its menu and appeal to a broader customer base seeking functional beverages.
