West Philadelphia Man Accidentally Shot While Asleep in Rooming House A 65-year-old man is recovering after being accidentally shot in his West Philadelphia apartment early this morning. Philadelphia Police are investigating the incident, which they are classifying as an accidental shooting. According to NBC10 reporter Matt DeLucia, who was on the scene, "A 52-year-old man was handling a rifle when it accidentally discharged. The bullet went through the floor of the apartment on the second level, through the ceiling on the first floor, and then hit the man while he was laying in bed." DeLucia added that the victim's wife was thankfully unharmed. The man with the rifle and two witnesses were taken to police headquarters for questioning. While the police currently believe the shooting was accidental, it remains unclear whether any criminal charges will be filed. The incident occurred around 1:30 AM near 61st and Girard streets.
