MMDA Restarts No-Contact Apprehension Policy in Metro Manila
Metro Manila's MMDA Reinforces No-Contact Apprehension Policy Metro Manila, Philippines – The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has reinstated its No-Contact Apprehension Policy (NCAP) on Monday, May 26, 2025. This policy uses artificial intelligence (AI) and closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras to identify traffic violations. The NCAP will cover major thoroughfares, including Circumferential Roads, Recto Avenue, and Quezon Avenue, among others. "Simula ngayong Lunes, May 26, ipinatutupad na ng MMDA ang NCAP," stated the MMDA spokesperson in a recent video. The spokesperson also clarified that the policy won't be enforced in areas with flawed traffic signage. Violators will receive a Notice of Violation sent to their registered address. The MMDA has also provided an online platform for appeals and requests for CCTV footage. Common violations include overspeeding, reckless driving, and failure to wear seatbelts or helmets. Fines can be paid online through LandBank Link.BizPortal or in person at the MMDA Head Office. The MMDA's renewed focus on traffic enforcement using technology aims to improve road safety and traffic management in Metro Manila.
