MMDA's No Contact Apprehension Policy Improves Metro Manila Traffic
Metro Manila Traffic Improves Following Implementation of No Contact Apprehension Policy Metro Manila, Philippines – The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) reports a significant improvement in traffic discipline following the implementation of its No Contact Apprehension Policy (NCAP). The policy, which uses CCTV cameras to catch traffic violations, has led to a noticeable decrease in reckless driving behaviors, particularly among motorcycle riders. While the MMDA acknowledges the policy's positive impact on traffic flow, some residents have expressed concerns about its economic consequences. "Dahil sa pagpapatupad ng NCAP, nabawasan daw ang mga kamote riders sa kalsada," stated a MMDA spokesperson in a recent News5 report. The report showcased smoother traffic flow on Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City. However, delivery rider Chris Retirado shared his experience: "Maliit na nga lang ang kita, babawasan pa." He explained that slower traffic due to increased discipline has reduced his daily earnings. In addition to enforcing NCAP, the MMDA also undertook clearing operations to remove obstructions from roadways. These efforts aimed to further improve traffic flow and safety. The MMDA's commitment to both enforcing traffic rules and improving road infrastructure demonstrates a comprehensive approach to traffic management in Metro Manila.
