A UK-based paramedic, known online as Para-Log, has garnered significant attention by sharing a simple yet effective method for combating nausea: inhaling the scent of an alcohol wipe. The healthcare professional, who is endorsed by the College of Paramedics, posted a video demonstrating the technique, which she claims to have used successfully in her own practice. "This is gonna stop you from feeling sick and potentially even stop you from being sick," the paramedic stated in her video, holding up a small, blue alcohol wipe. She elaborated that while these wipes are primarily for cleaning and disinfecting skin, numerous recent studies have explored their efficacy in reducing nausea. Para-Log highlighted that for patients experiencing active vomiting or severe nausea, traditional antiemetic medications remain the recommended course of action. However, for instances of travel sickness, mild to moderate nausea, or even post-alcohol discomfort, she suggests that alcohol wipes offer a readily available and affordable alternative. "They're very cheap and affordable to buy, and they make a good alternative to where you get the pressure bands for travel sickness," she added. The video, which quickly went viral, also saw the paramedic mention that she uses Clinell wipes in her daily practice and has provided a link to them in her TikTok shop, though she assured viewers that "any old alcohol wipe will do." The tip has sparked considerable discussion online, with many users sharing their own experiences, both positive and negative, regarding the effectiveness of alcohol wipes for nausea relief.
