Turning Invasive Tilapia into Thai Treasure: A Sustainable Solution

Samut Prakan, Thailand – In a novel approach to managing invasive species, local authorities and Charoen Pokphand Foods (CPF) have partnered to transform the problematic black chin tilapia into a valuable product: fish sauce. This initiative, ongoing since 2016, has expanded to four provinces. "We're not just removing the fish; we're creating economic opportunity," said a CPF representative in the video. A recent single-day catch in Samut Prakan yielded 512 kilograms of fish sauce. The project demonstrates a sustainable solution to an ecological problem, benefiting both the environment and the local community.
