Sarawak Bolsters Maritime Security with New Patrol Boats and Radar System
Sarawak enhances maritime security with new patrol boats and radar system. The Malaysian state of Sarawak has taken steps to bolster its maritime security by deploying new patrol boats in Sematan and installing a radar system in Tanjung Datu. According to the Director of the Sarawak Maritime Department, Laksamana Pertama Maritim Mohamad Khairi Abdul Aziz, this is part of a broader strategy to improve coastal surveillance and combat illegal activities. 'The new patrol boats and radar system will allow for continuous monitoring of vessel movements and any intrusions, particularly by foreign fishermen,' said Laksamana Pertama Maritim Mohamad Khairi. The expanded surveillance radius covers a 40km stretch from Sematan to Teluk Melano and Tanjung Datu. Previously, patrols originating from Muara Tebas were time-consuming. The enhanced security measures are expected to significantly improve the effectiveness of maritime enforcement and protect Sarawak's coastal waters.
