Sarawak's Education Initiative: Empowering Dayak Communities for the Future
Sarawak Prioritizes Education: Abang Johari Unveils Inclusive Development Plan KUCHING, SARAWAK – June 1, 2025 – In a recent news report by TVSarawak, Premier Abang Johari Tun Openg underscored the importance of education as a cornerstone for the future prosperity of Sarawak's Dayak community. He emphasized the state government's commitment to inclusive development, ensuring that the benefits of progress reach all citizens, regardless of their background. The report highlighted key initiatives under the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS 2030). One significant aspect is the provision of free tuition and substantial financial aid for students from low-income families earning less than RM1500 monthly. These students will receive an annual allowance of RM15,000, significantly easing the financial burden on their families. "Education is the most effective weapon for advancing the progress of the Dayak community," Premier Abang Johari stated in the report. He also mentioned the focus on strategic fields of study, aligning education with future economic needs. These fields include Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), law, accounting, and psychology. The initiative extends beyond financial aid; it aims to provide access to world-class education and equip Sarawakian youth with the skills necessary to thrive in the modern job market. This comprehensive approach demonstrates Sarawak's dedication to building a brighter future for all its citizens.
