Santa Cruz Faces Major Water Cut for System Upgrade
Santa Cruz Residents Face 11-Hour Water Cut: Saguapac Explains Planned Outage Santa Cruz, Bolivia – Residents of Santa Cruz are facing a scheduled water cut affecting a large part of the city. The interruption, announced by local water utility Saguapac, will begin at 7 PM on Wednesday and last until 6:30 AM on Thursday. The outage is necessary for essential network optimization work, according to Fernando Suarez, Head of Media at Saguapac. "At 7 PM tonight, the pumping stations in the central and northern areas will be shut down," Suarez explained in an interview with Unitel. "This will affect a large part of the city, including the central, second, and third rings, except for areas from Centenario Avenue to Grigotá Avenue." He also detailed the impact on the fourth and fifth rings, as well as other specific zones. Suarez emphasized that once the service is restored, there might be a slight presence of manganese in the water, causing it to appear darker. He advised residents to let the water run for a few seconds to clear it. The planned work aims to optimize energy use, detect leaks, and improve water pressure. The installation of a sectorization valve in the second ring and Calle Libertad will divide the central and northeast macro-zones, further improving the system. The water cut, while inconvenient, is part of Saguapac's efforts to modernize the water supply system in Santa Cruz, ensuring more efficient and reliable service for the city's residents in the long term.
