Cochabamba, Bolivia – Agricultural producers in Cochabamba have voiced serious concerns regarding the government's capacity to ensure a consistent supply of fuel, warning that a continued shortage could trigger a significant surge in inflation across the nation. The sector highlighted that any disruption in fuel availability would directly impact operational costs, leading to increased prices for production, transportation, and logistics. Rolando Morales, Vice President of the Cochabamba Agricultural Chamber, stated, "The government does not guarantee the normal supply of fuel for the coming months. This, of course, has generated a very delicate internal problem for us. Because without that guarantee, which would have to be supported by the National Government, we greatly fear that, first, inflation will accelerate." Producers emphasized that a lack of fuel would not only raise their operating expenses but also translate into a generalized increase in prices for consumers, directly affecting the purchasing power of families. Morales referenced past incidents, noting, "What happened in the last 15 days of blockade in the tropics: gasoline we bought at 23 Bolivianos per liter, and diesel at 18." The agricultural sector is urging the government to address the fuel supply issue promptly to mitigate potential economic instability and protect both producers and consumers from uncontrolled price increases.
