Spice Up Your Winter: Ukrainian Blogger Shares Chili Ketchup Pickled Cucumber Recipe
Kyiv, Ukraine – As the canning season approaches, a popular Ukrainian food blogger, Vita_foodblog, has shared a simple yet flavorful recipe for pickling cucumbers with chili ketchup, promising a piquant and delicious addition to winter meals. The recipe, which has garnered significant attention online, offers a unique twist on traditional cucumber preservation. The process begins with preparing clean jars, into which spices like cloves and peppercorns are placed. The marinade is then prepared by combining seven cups of water, one cup of 9% vinegar, two tablespoons of salt, one cup of sugar, and six to eight tablespoons of chili ketchup. The blogger specifically recommends using "Torchyn" brand chili ketchup for its distinct flavor, advising against milder varieties. Once the marinade is brought to a boil and simmered for five minutes, washed cucumbers, with trimmed ends if desired, are packed into the jars. The hot marinade is then poured over the cucumbers, and the jars are sterilized for ten minutes before being sealed with lids. The recipe is versatile, with the blogger noting that it can also be used to preserve sliced zucchini. This method provides a convenient way for home cooks to enjoy homemade pickled vegetables throughout the colder months.
