Belarus Floods: Heavy Rains Devastate Vitebsk Region
Heavy rains lash Vitebsk region, causing widespread damage. The downpour, which began on May 27th, caused significant flooding and road damage across several districts of the Vitebsk region in Belarus. In Lepel, four residential buildings were flooded, and in Verkhnedvinsk, access roads to several villages were submerged under up to 70 centimeters of water. 'The situation is serious, and we're working around the clock to help those affected,' said a spokesperson for the regional emergency services. Images from the video show extensive damage to roads, with sections completely washed away. The regional emergency commission has raised the alert level for Verkhnedvinsk district. Despite the challenges, emergency services, housing and utilities departments, and road maintenance crews are working tirelessly to restore services and clear the damage. The resilience of the community in the face of this adversity is commendable.
