
Major Immigration Raid in Sabah: Nearly 40 Undocumented Immigrants Detained
Inanam and Papar Immigration Raid Nets Nearly 40 Undocumented Immigrants A large-scale operation conducted by the Sabah Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) on Wednesday resulted in the detention of almost 40 undocumented immigrants (PATI) in Inanam and Papar, Sabah. The operation, known as "Ops Mahir," targeted factories in the area. According to Datuk Siti Saleha Habib Yusoff, director of JIM Sabah, the raid began at 10 am and led to the apprehension of 39 individuals. "We found 39 people who lacked proper documentation and misused their visitor passes," stated Datuk Siti Saleha. The detainees, ranging in age from 20 to 45, were primarily from the Philippines and Indonesia. They are currently being held in Kota Kinabalu for further investigation under the Immigration Act 1959/63. Datuk Siti Saleha also highlighted that since the beginning of the year, 140 individuals have been deported by air, and more than 5700 by sea. This operation underscores the ongoing efforts to address illegal immigration in Sabah.
