
94 Undocumented Immigrants Arrested in Sarawak Factory Raids
SARAWAK IMMIGRATION RAID: 94 Undocumented Immigrants Detained in Pending and Demak On Wednesday, May 28, 2025, Sarawak's Immigration Department conducted a large-scale operation in the industrial areas of Pending and Demak, resulting in the arrest of 94 undocumented immigrants. The operation, involving 33 officers from the Kuching enforcement unit, began at 10:30 AM and targeted five factories suspected of employing illegal workers. Immigration Director Abdul Halim Abang Nali stated, "The operation focused on five factories, and we found that these individuals did not possess valid travel documents and had overstayed their visas." The detainees comprised 80 men and 11 women of Indonesian nationality, along with three Bangladeshi men. All those arrested were sent to the Semuja Immigration Detention Depot for further processing and deportation. This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of Sarawak's Immigration Department to combat illegal immigration and ensure compliance with immigration laws.
